SANTIAGO GERVASONI

My language lies at the border of the music and arts that i have discovered in my family circle, through my academic studies, the encounters and places i have visited, the friendships and philosophical discussions and exchanges that have followed.

My interest is to explore the essence of these different languages, to detect both their differences and the richness of this variety, as well as the point that unites them all, breaking stereotypes and concepts of hierarchy between them.

To understand a work (or a musical language) is to understand our relationship to it. our work is a search for the point of harmony between us and the work in each of the layers of reading. this requires both a great deal of inner listening and a linguistic understanding of the composer's work.

When we are in contact with a work, our whole person is reflected in it, our fears, our convictions, our dreams, and that is why this inner listening is fundamental. this work is not only about time spent in front of the instrument, it is a philosophy of life.

BAROQUE & CLASSICAL

As a student, I am thankful for having crossed my path with musicians and pedagogues such as Rena Shereshevskaya, Raphael Alpermann, Amandine Beyer, Eberhard Feltz and Ludovic Frochot. Giving a good mixture of knowledge, exigence, self-confidence and a constant need for dreaming is not an easy task for a mentor.

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in classical piano from the Hanns Eisler University (Berlin, DE). The years I spent in this very prestigious school taught me a lot - for example, that we can learn through suffering: we learn at last how to avoid it to become more essential and deep in our learning process. I followed this lesson, parted ways with that institution and started a Master's degree in baroque harpsichord at the Berlin University of Art with R. Alpermann. I will finish my Master in July 2022.

The world of instruments I discovered these last two years is a blessing - in addition to the piano I play now the clavichord and harpsichord and they bring me to an endless landscape of languages. I worked together with the Compagnie La Tempête on medieval music, repetitive music and jazz; with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin as continuo and I have been a member of the Eeemerging Academy 2021 under the lead of Geoffroy Jourdain among other beautiful experiences.

OTHER EXPLORATION PROJECTS

Not that the worlds of baroque and classical are outside of the concept of exploring.

The following projects are more in the direction of exploring new forms of sounds and structures.

Not that the worlds of baroque and classic are outside of this concept either.

The improvisation and composition were always by my side, in one or another language.
